About Delhivery: Delhivery was founded in 2011 by Sahil Barua, Mohit Tandon, Bhavesh Manglani, Suraj Saharan, and Kapil Bharati. Headquartered in Gurgaon, Haryana, it is mainly a supply chain services company that provides services like warehousing, transportation, freight, and other order fulfillment services. They have an enviable customer base standing at 21,342 active customers including e-commerce marketplaces, enterprises, and SMEs.
In its primary funding round led by Fidelity Management and research company, Delhivery had raised approximately Rs.1995 crore. Delhivery is also all set to receive a $100 million investment from the American giant, FedEx Express in addition to the $227 million funding it had received previously from other investors.
Carlyle Group, which had invested initially in the company in November 2017, is looking to exit its investment by putting up its shares with Rs.920 crore up for the OFS. Lee Fixel, a former partner at Tiger Global invested $125 million through his fund addition, in part through China’s Fosun. Fosun sold 1.32% of their 3.8% stake in the company. What is IOSS? It allows suppliers and electronic interfaces selling imported goods to buyers in the EU to collect, declare and pay the VAT to the tax authorities. Instead of making the buyer pay the VAT at the moment, the goods are imported into the EU as was previously the case (for products over 22 EUR).
The IOSS facilitates the collection, declaration, and payment of VAT for Sellers that are making distance sales of imported goods to buyers in the EU. It also makes the process easier for the buyer, who is only charged at the time of purchase, and therefore does not face any surprise fees when the goods are delivered. If the seller is not registered in the IOSS, the buyer has to pay the VAT and usually a customs clearance fee charged by the transporter.
All businesses will be affected, but the changes will mainly affect business-to-consumer (B2C) sales and online marketplaces based outside of the EU, as well as EU-based businesses selling to consumers in the EU.*
These changes could lead to simpler procedures and reduced administration. There could also be broader implications for the way you conduct business in the EU.

Suez Canal reopens: The vast container ship that was blocking the canal for six days has been freed and is moving north to an anchor point, the Suez Canal Authority said, paving the way to open the critical waterway and ease days of global supply delays. The Ever Given, one of the world’s biggest container ships was holding up $10 billion in trade each day. The 120-mile canal sees about 15% of global shipping traffic so efforts have also begun to get the more than 450 vessels waiting to pass through.
The ship stuck sideways across one of the world’s busiest and most important trade channels—that has captured international attention, cost the global economy billions of dollars in lost trade, and launched multitudes of memes—has finally been freed.
Oil prices slipped today, as soon as news emerged that the Ever Given container ship had been partially dislodged in the Suez Canal.
The Suez Canal crisis shows just how vulnerable our global supply chains are right now. Oil, natural gas and food prices could rise! But finally, Suez Canal reopens.
Engineers raced throughout the day to finish the job of dislodging the Ever Given after partially refloating the ship at dawn, taking advantage of an unusually high tide to make the job easier. Tugboats helped pull the vessel out from the side of the canal where it had been stuck, before straightening its heading. Egyptian television images showed tugboats blaring their horns, as they towed the Ever Given to safety. Once stabilized it was towed toward an anchor point at a lake further up the canal system, enabling ships already in the canal network to travel.

Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti – Thousands of letters have been received at Chaityabhoomi and Dadar Post Office
In lieu of the death anniversary of on December 6, more than 3,000 letters have been received at Chaityabhoomi and thousands at Post Office. This initiative is being implemented through Vishwashanti Social Organization.
Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had earlier held a meeting with the Mahaparinirvan Diwas coordination committee and senior government officials. The committee appealed to Ambedkarites to not travel to on December 6 like every year and instead pay their respects from home. Thousands of letters have been received at Chaityabhoomi and Dadar Post Office this year.
As a result, the BMC asserted that an online broadcast would be arranged for the same. Every year on December 6, lakhs of people across the country visit Chaitya Bhumi to pay their respects on his death anniversary. The day is observed as ‘Mahaparinirvan Diwas’. In view of the pandemic this year, the BMC has appealed to the citizens to pay respects to the stalwart differently. Moreover, earlier on Friday, November 20, BMC Additional Municipal Commissioner Sanjeev Jaiswal visited Chaitya Bhumi to take stock of arrangements for December 6.
The BMC had earlier set restrictions on the mass celebrations of Chhath Puja at natural water bodies in the city and asked devotees to avoid crowding in view of the pandemic. The festival dedicated to the Sun god was celebrated on Friday, November 20 and Saturday, November 21, by people who originally hail from north India and are residing in the metropolis.
However, like other festivities celebrated in the city, the BMC had issued guidelines about Chhath Puja celebrations on a mass scale to avoid the spread of the coronavirus infection. In the past, the annual festival used to see huge numbers of devotees thronging prominent beaches, river banks and other water bodies to make offerings to Sun god at sunrise and sunset.

Bengaluru, Oct 29 : State-run India Post unveiled a digital post box in this tech city for sending registered letters and parcels through speed post at any time of the day or night as it operates 24×7, an official said on Thursday.
An automatic Self Booking Kiosk at India Post, the first such in the country, became operational at the Museum Road Post Office on Wednesday. It does away with any human contact, apart from being environment-friendly by saving printed paper.
Chief Postmaster General, Karnataka Postal Circle, Sharada Sampath told TNIE, “This is a prototype rolled out in Bengaluru and completely eliminates human contact, and will keep everyone safe from the infection.”
Explaining the salient features of the hi-tech kiosk, Kiran said the digital box would help customers to avoid waiting for their turn in long queues to send letters or parcels at counters in post offices across the city.
How to use:
Step 1: A customer has to first download the ‘smart post kiosk’ app from Google Play or the website of the Karnataka postal circle. A 6-digit numeric code will be generated on the customer’s smart phone after keying in address of the sender and receiver of the letter/parcel to be sent by registered post or speed post.
Step 2: The customer has to upload the pre-filled addresses in the kiosk using the code and select the mode of sending – by registered post or speed post.
Step 3: The kiosk will generate a bar code sticker for the cover or parcel, which has to be affixed on it (package) and scanned on the kiosk screen. On scanning, the kiosk’s flap opens to drop the cover or parcel in it. The kiosk screen will also display details such as weight, distance of the receiver’s address and the charges to be paid for sending the package.
Step 4: Customers can pay the charges through UPI (Unified Payment Interface) like Google Pay, Amazon Pay or any bank app by scanning the QR (Quick Response) code displayed on the kiosk screen.
The kiosk will generate a receipt on receiving the payment with details of the parcel to be sent to the receiver. The customer will also get the receipt on his/her mobile number and e-mail id if given while registering for the digital service.
The digital kiosk also avoids human contact in Covid pandemic times and saves on using paper for receipt.
“The digital post box or smart post kiosk has been installed at our Museum Road post office in the city centre to facilitate customers send letters and parcels up to 2kg by registered post or speed post during day or night,” postal officer Madhu Kiran told IANS here.
S D Sudarsan, executive director, Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC), said, “It is another step towards Digital India. Registered and Speed Post can be booked using the Smart Post Kiosk app, and payment is digital. It responds to three languages now — English, Hindi and Kannada. We plan to incorporate more languages when we develop it for postal divisions across the country.”
She said the next such kiosk would be installed in the High Court premises, and depending on the response, would be extended to other locations.

The US House of Representatives has unanimously passed a legislation to name a post office in Houston after Indian-American police officer Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal, who was gunned down in the line of duty a year ago.
The bipartisan legislation, Deputy Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal Post Office Act, was co-sponsored by the entire Texas delegation on Monday.
Deputy (Sheriff) Dhaliwal represented the very best of our community: he worked for equality, connection, and community through his life of service to others,” said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher.
Dhaliwal, 42, the first observant Sikh in Texas police, was killed in the line of duty on September 27, 2019. In October of 2019, Fletcher led the entire Houston delegation in introducing H Res. 616, a resolution to honour the life and mourn the loss of Dhaliwal.
Deputy Dhaliwal was widely regarded as a role model for Americans of all faiths, wishing to serve their communities. He was the first observant Sikh to serve in the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, and he was also one of the first officers in Texas to receive a policy accommodation to practice his religion while serving as a police officer,” Fletcher said on the House floor Monday afternoon, after the legislation to honour Sikh cop.
The Deputy Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal Post Office will serve as a permanent reminder of his service, his sacrifice, and his example for us all. I am grateful that my legislation to honour his memory has passed the House of Representatives today and is one step closer to being signed into law,” she said.
If signed into law, the post office will be the second to be named after an Indian-American. The first was named after the first Indian-American Congressman, Dalip Singh Saund, in Southern California in 2006.
The Deputy Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal Post Office Act now has to be passed by the Senate before it can be sent to the White House for President Donald Trump to sign into law.
Dhaliwal’s wife Harwinder Kaur welcomed the move. “Naming a post office after him will honour his work and dedication, and I am happy that this bill has passed the House today,” she said. My son was beloved by all in his community, and performed his job and participated in seva (selfless service) with respect, dignity, and care,” said his father Pyara Singh Dhaliwal.
He lived as a symbol of the strength that comes from diversity and unity, and this building will serve as another permanent reminder of how much he meant to our family and the people of Houston. We are so thankful for this effort to honour his legacy and his commitment to our city,” he said.
The recognition of Dhaliwal’s legacy by naming a federal building in his honour is a historic and deeply meaningful acknowledgement for the family and the Sikh community, said Sim J Singh, Sikh Coalition Senior Manager of Policy and Advocacy.
In 2015, Lt. Dhaliwal became the first Sikh American in Texas to receive a policy accommodation to serve while wearing his articles of faith, including his turban and beard. He was the first Sikh police officer to serve in the Harris County Sheriff’s Office and was a role model and a trailblazer for Sikh Americans and religious minorities that sought to serve in law enforcement.
Born in India, Dhaliwal, at an early age, moved to Houston along with his parents. “He did have a successful business, but seeking to build a bridge between law enforcement and the Sikh community and the Greater Houston community, he joined the Harris County Sheriff’s office first as a detention officer in 2009,” Fletcher said.
A year later he graduated to the rank of patrol deputy. He was assigned to District 5 which covers much of Northwest Harris County, an area he would patrol for the rest of his career through his years of service.

According to the report, JPMorgan would lease space from USPS to provide ATMs and other banking services. There are 31,322 retail US Post Offices across the United States, according to USPS. It’s not clear how many of those locations might have the potential for Chase banking services and Chase ATMs at Post Offices.
A JPMorgan spokesperson told American Banker that the conversations were preliminary and no agreement has been reached.
We had very preliminary conversations with the U.S. Postal Service several months ago (conversations began pre-COVID) about what it might look like to lease a small number of spaces to place ATM’s to better serve some historically underserved communities – the representative told the industry publication. There were very preliminary conversations – there is no agreement in place and imminent plans to move forward with Chase ATMs at Post Offices.
The proposed partnership would also grant JPMorgan “exclusive” rights to seek business with USPS customers, according to the report. That’s no small feat, considering that the Postal Service recorded 811.8 million retail customer visits during 2019, according to USPS.
JPMorgan is the US’ largest bank by assets, and currently operates anout 5,000 branches in 38 states and Washington, D.C.

This is a result of a 2018 Cabinet decision, which would see the South African Post Office (SAPO) honoured the three artists, whose words and music left an imprint on the continent and the world.
The three well-known legends Hugh Masekela, Dr Phillip Tabane and Professor Willie Keorapetse Kgositsile were honored for the role they played during the country’s darkest of times of apartheid.
South African Post Office honours Hugh Masekela.
This is a result of a 2018 Cabinet decision, which would see the South African Post Office (SAPO) honour the three artists, whose words and music left an imprint on the continent and the world.
South African Post Office honours Hugh Masekela, Masekela was an award-winning jazz maestro, who also went into exile before returning to South Africa when political parties were unbanned. He is known as the Father of South African jazz, with 40 albums under his name. He succumbed to cancer in 2018.
Tabane is a renowned vocalist, jazz guitarist and bandleader. He died at the age of 84 in 2018. He was recognised as one of the best musicians and was awarded honorary doctoral degrees.
Kgositsile, who also passed away in 2018, was a journalist turned author. He was a renowned poet and teacher, whose dedication to politics led him to establish the African National Congress’ Department of Education and Department of Arts and Culture. He was the country’s first National Poet Laureate in 1996 and received the National Order of Ikhamanga in 2008.
Speaking during the commemorative launch on Tuesday, Communications and Digital Technologies Minister, Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams, said stamps play a critical role as a small ambassador for the country. Stamps travel across the world in the global postal network.
Stamps also serve as a nation builder and educational tool, as they reflect the country’s diverse culture, history, heritage, heroes and heroines, who played a critical role in the development of our country.
They also attract huge interest for stamp collectors, and what is portrayed becomes very critical and serves as a revenue-generating source for the Post Office. As e-commerce markets develop and grow, so does the parcel market that needs effective and efficient logistical value chain, supported by digital infrastructure. We also need to ensure that these commemorative stamps are digitised and sold on digital platforms,” the Minister said.
Ndabeni-Abrahams believes SAPO still has an important role to play in the digital age.
We’re talking about the postal service, something that people think doesn’t matter in these days where, from the comfort of your bedroom, you can send a message to your child downstairs to bring you water. Have you ever imagined instead of calling when you’re [away], you [send a] postcard with a stamp?” she remarked, saying little things like this should still matter in this modern age. There is uniqueness and something special about receiving a Christmas or birthday message on a postcard specifically addressed to [you].
Ndabeni-Abrahams used the platform to throw her weight behind the arts.
How do we make sure coming out of COVID-19, that the creative industry, which has suffered a huge blow, [has a] digital platform for [practitioners] to continue sharing the stories that they share in whatever mode they utilise? She said history needed to be showcased and one way of doing that is through art.
No one is not touched by the creative industry, whether you’re a scientist or in whatever profession. As a government, this commemorative stamp is one of the ways that we say their work and legacy will forever live with us and is very much appreciated,” the Minister said.
